Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Mixtape Review

November 19, 2012 / by / 1 Comment

When you here the title Call of Duty Black Ops 2, your mind automatically associates it with the popular video game franchise but this is no way associated with the video game, instead the mixtape uses the title more so as a euphemism to imply the spiritual battle that we are all facing.

As you listen to the intro you are greeted with the sounds of a roaring engines, the chatter of soldiers on a battlefield and explosions which sets the tone for the mixtape. After the intro fades the first song “Gorilla” kicks in with deep bass, horns and an addictive hook. From then on you are greeted with songs that provide musical battle tones that are meant to prepare you spiritually for battle. My personal favorites are Swagger Change, Armour in The War Zone, Light Flow, War, Make War and Don’t Know How to Dance.

Cash Hollistah, Rekonciled, Amour, AppleJaxx are some of the artist that make a big impact on this mixtape. Well known artists Lecrae, Thi’sl and Trip Lee songs Fakin and War are remixed. Even with all of the artists on the mixtape the songs chosen fit perfectly with the war theme.

The mixtape does have it flaws. I’m personally not a fan of the siren blaring in the background. Though I do understand the use of it due to the theme of the mixtape it could have been toned down a bit. Also the war theme is a bit overstated. Some of the songs start of with guns blazing and the sound of a helicopter flying overhead but with such a well executed introduction the need to continue to push the theme so hard was not needed.

Overall this is a good mixtape. DJ I Rock Jesus and The Oracle Magazine did a good job of putting together a good list of twenty songs meant to get you prepared for spiritual warfare. There are a lot of artist that you will hear for the first time and they will leave you wanting more. It’s a blessing that these music artists answered the calling that God placed on their lives and they allow their lyrics to minister the Gospel. I encourage each of you to head over to www.theoraclemag.com and download Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Mixtape and allow yourselves to suit up for a spiritual battle.
